In 2017, I was diagnosed with lymphoma cancer. I was given a six month regiment of ABVD chemotherapy, which seemed to kill the cancer. At the time, I was told there was a higher than 95% chance that it wouldn’t come back.
Then, in 2018, the cancer returned. I was put on a new and emerging form of chemotherapy. I lived in a hospital for a full summer, while I was given a stem cell transplant that totally reset my immune system. I was a boy in a bubble, emaciated and on life support, unable to leave my room. I was told at the time that my odds of survival were essentially 50/50. But I survived, and have been cancer-free since.
The experience of surviving two back-to-back cancers, and coming close to death, changed me as a person. I learned the value of spending every day pursuing your passion. That’s why I returned to content writing, after a stint as a designer. It’s also why I live every day like it’s my last; with enthusiasm, positivity, and hope.
During my treatments, I wrote a blog about the experience.
